June 2-July 7: Bike South 2000, 2000-mile bike ride through
Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. June 23-30: Cycle South Carolina/North Carolina, Savannah, Ga.
to Winston-Salem, part of Bike South 2000. Aug. 21-22: Showdown at Sugar, American Mountain Bike Challenge Competition and Festival, Sugar Mountain Resort, Banner Elk Sept. 17: Bridge-to-Bridge Incredible Century Challenge, 100-mile bike-ride from Lenoir to Grandfather Mountain. Oct. 7-14: Cycle North Carolina, statewide bicycle ride from
the mountains to the coast; the ride will average 55 miles a day.
